AI Studio

We are launching CIDDL AI Studio, an education-focused AI Literacy Experience

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how humans learn, work, communicate, create knowledge, and make decisions. Yet most conversations about AI in education remain narrowly focused on tools, efficiency, or fear. The CIDDL AI Studio was designed differently.

Hosted by the Center for Innovation, Design, and Digital Learning (CIDDL), this 6-week national studio experience brings together faculty members, doctoral students, educational leaders, educators, and innovators to critically explore the social, ethical, and human dimensions of AI through collaborative inquiry and applied design.

Using The Coming Wave as a shared anchor text, participants will engage in weekly conversations, provocative design challenges, and small-group studio work focused on real problems of practice across education and society.

A group of young professionals sits in a circle discussion while holding coffee and devices.

Rather than functioning as a traditional online course or book study, the AI Studio operates as an interactive national learning community where participants think together, experiment together, and wrestle with difficult questions about the future.

Throughout the studio, participants will explore topics such as:

  • Human-centered AI
  • Human variability and learning
  • AI and disability/accessibility
  • Trust, ethics, and governance
  • Cognitive offloading and human agency
  • The future of schools, expertise, and knowledge production
  • Designing responsible AI-supported learning environments

Participants will collaborate in small interdisciplinary groups to design, critique, and refine potential solutions to authentic educational and societal challenges shaped by AI. The emphasis is not on technical expertise, but on thoughtful participation, critical inquiry, and practical imagination.

The studio is intentionally designed for busy professionals. Weekly live sessions will be hosted on the CIDDL Community Platform, with flexible participation structures that recognize participants may occasionally miss sessions due to professional and personal commitments. Resources, discussions, and collaborative artifacts will remain accessible asynchronously throughout the experience.

This is not a webinar series.
It is not a traditional graduate course.
And it is definitely not another “how to use AI tools” workshop.

The CIDDL AI Studio is a space for serious, collaborative thinking about what it means to remain deeply human in a rapidly emerging AI world.

*Please note this is limited to 25 participants.
