CEC Recap

Authors: Samantha Goldman; info@ciddl.org

What a wonderful conference in San Antonio! The CIDDL team enjoyed interacting with and learning from everyone who came by our booth or sessions. We are excited to welcome many new voices into our CIDDL community

CIDDL’s AI Publication Exclusive Release

Perhaps the most exciting part of CEC was the release of our publication on AI, “Inclusive Intelligence: The Impact of AI on Education for ALL Learners.” This eight-chapter guide is meant to initiate conversations around AI in education. Each chapter discusses a different AI topic affecting education, special education, related services, and educational leadership, including the development of future higher education faculty and researchers.

CIDDL’s Presentations

The CIDDL team shared about the impact artificial intelligence is having and will continue to have on special education. We held five sessions highlighting the topics in our newly released publication on AI. The presentations highlighted AI in personnel preparation, considerations for AI in the workforce, and considerations for engaging parents and families with AI. We also held two general AI sessions, one called “There’s an AI for that, but Should I Use It?” and a town hall collaborative conversation. Check out the presentation slide decks by heading over to the AI section of our community and navigating to the resource tab.

Tech Blitzes and Ask the AI Expert

In addition to our large sessions, we hosted mini sessions in the tech playground where the CIDDL community highlighted tools and provided participants with explicit directions as to how to use them in their classrooms. Stay tuned. Our presenters are in the process of recording their presentations so that we can share them with the greater CIDDL community. CIDDL would like to thank all of our community members who volunteered to lead blitzes and share their knowledge: Christine Parsons, Yacine Tazi, Kenneth Holman, Dr. Matthew Marino, Samantha Goldman, Krystle Merry, Dr. Adam Carreon, Dr. Mikyung Shin, Teddy Kim, Yerin Seung, Dr. James Basham, Dr. Beth Fornauf, Dr. Tal Slemrod, Dr. Lynn Scott, Dr. Sean Smith, Dr. Alisa Lowrey, and Bryan Dean
