CIDDL is preparing to head to the Teacher Education Division (TED) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)'s Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from November 5th to 8th. This convention brings together professionals who lead and support teacher education and provides professional development, advocacy, research, and collaboration opportunities.
The CIDDL team is bringing research and practice with technology and innovation to the conference through presentation sessions focusing on technology integration and artificial intelligence for educator preparation programs. Below, we will share the various sessions hosted by the CIDDL team.
Presentation Sessions: Bring Technology to Your Educator Preparation Settings
- Embracing AI in Educator Preparation and PD: A Path to Inclusive Excellence (November 5, 2024, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm in 207 B)
In an era where technology permeates every facet of our lives, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into educator preparation and professional development is not just a trend but a necessity. This three-hour pre-conference session delves into the transformative power of AI in shaping the future of education. Participants will explore innovative approaches to incorporating AI into teacher training programs and ongoing professional development through interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on activities. From personalized learning experiences to adaptive assessment tools, AI offers unprecedented opportunities to enhance inclusivity, cater to diverse learning needs, and foster educator excellence. Join us as we navigate the evolving landscape of education, leveraging AI to empower educators and ensure equitable outcomes for all learners.
- CIDDL Tech Alliance: Preparing Special Education for Innovation (November 6, 2024, 11:00 am – 11:50 am)
This session aims to introduce a process and framework developed by CIDDL and Tech Alliance partners for faculty at IHEs training pre-service educators. The goal is to enhance the integration of instructional design and educational technologies in pre-service special educator preparation. Case studies from diverse IHEs will illustrate how employing a CIDDL technology integration plan (TIP) framework can lead to sustained, personalized, and meaningful change aligned with the National Educational Technology Plan (OSEP, 2024). We'll guide participants through the TIP process, offering examples from various institutions to assist them in creating their TIPs for enhancing educational technology integration in their programs. Additionally, attendees will explore CIDDL's freely accessible resources to support the data-driven creation, implementation, and refinement of TIPs for their special educator preparation programs.
