S3 Summer Study Sessions: Virtual Writing Group for Doc Students

Authors: Samantha Goldman;

CIDDL is excited to launch the first of several collaborative event series we plan for this summer! Starting Tuesday, May 14, CIDDL will host a Pomodoro-style writing group for doctoral students in special education and technology.

What is a Pomodoro session?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management strategy where you work for 25 minutes, followed by a five-minute break. Research has shown that participating in virtual Pomodoro-style writing sessions is an effective method for doctoral students to achieve accountability, social interaction, and self-efficacy. This virtual writing group style has also created a writing culture and helped doctoral students progress with their academic writing. Interested in trying this method? Here’s a timer you can use to get started.

Join our Writing Group!

The S3 Summer Study Sessions: Virtual Writing Group for Doc Students will be held every Tuesday (from 11 am - 12:30 pm CST) and Thursday (from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm CST), with our first session on May 14 and our last session on August 15. We will gather to work on writing, be in dissertations, manuscripts, or class papers, on Zoom, and will use our breaks to share about our research, talk about new and emerging technologies, and take some time to relax and stretch.

This writing group is open to all doctoral students interested in integrating technology into special education, early intervention, and related services personnel preparation and leadership personnel preparation programs.
