What an excellent conference in Baltimore! The CIDDL team enjoyed interacting with and learning from everyone who came by our booth or sessions. We are excited to welcome many new voices into our CIDDL community.
CEC 2025 Keynote Panel
At CEC 2025, Dr. James D. Basham and Dr. Trey Vasquez, the PIs of CIDDL, served as keynote panelists for Envisioning Tomorrow for All Learners: AI Revolutionizing Education with Dr. Lisa Dieker. Their discussion focused on demystifying AI and exploring its practical applications in special education. They covered the history of AI, showcased AI-powered tools that enhance teaching, learning, and assessment for students with disabilities, and shared the latest research in the field. Through real-world examples, they illustrated how AI is transforming classrooms and improving student outcomes. The panel offered a thought-provoking conversation on the future of AI in special education and how it can be leveraged to create more effective learning environments.
CIDDL’s Presentations
The CIDDL team shared insights on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in special education at CEC 2025. We hosted four sessions covering key topics from our latest AI-focused initiatives. The presentations explored AI’s impact on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and ethical considerations, focusing on support for students with disabilities. One of our sessions also addressed AI guidance in K-12 education and its implications for state and district policies. Additionally, our keynote panel delved into the future of AI in special education, highlighting research, real-world applications, and learning environments for all learners. Tech Blitzes and Ask the AI Expert
In addition to our longer sessions, we hosted mini-sessions in the tech playground where the CIDDL community highlighted tools and provided participants with explicit directions on using them in their classrooms.
